Where an architect, builder or main contractor is managing the wider project, Kingsholme can also manufacture and install the timber orangery structure as a separate package.

and labour. A straightforward rectangular design will also usually cost
less than one incorporating bays, angled elevations or intricate roof
geometry.
Opening the orangery into the existing house may require steelwork and
temporary structural support. Drainage alterations, unusual foundations,
restricted access and differences in floor level can also affect the cost.
The choice of timber influences both price and performance. Kingsholme
works with durable hardwoods and Accoya to create long-lasting structures
with excellent stability and resistance to decay.
The most appropriate material will depend on the design, desired finish,
exposure and maintenance expectations.
Every Kingsholme orangery is made to order. The number and style of
windows and doors, decorative mouldings, fanlights, glazing bars and
other joinery details all contribute to the final price.
Matching architectural features from the original house often makes the
difference between an orangery that merely adjoins the property and one
that appears to belong there.
The size and complexity of the roof lantern affect both manufacturing
and installation costs. Glazing specification, decorative detailing and
non-standard shapes can also influence the price.
High-performance glazing helps control heat loss, solar gain and glare.
Options can include solar-control glass, self-cleaning coatings and, in
appropriate circumstances, triple glazing.
Flooring, underfloor heating, lighting, decorating and other finishing
choices can vary considerably. These can be included within the
Kingsholme contract or completed separately.
Some orangeries can be constructed under Permitted Development, while
others require planning permission. Listed buildings, conservation areas
and technically complex projects may involve additional design and

Yes. An old conservatory can sometimes be replaced with a complete hardwood orangery, potentially retaining suitable foundations or parts of the existing base.

The technical information on the website gave me confidence that the product is outstanding, based on years of experience. All of the team were outstanding, highly experienced tradesmen. The final product is of the highest quality in terms of design, materials and construction. There was absolutely no ‘sales’ involved and during my first call, I was given a ballpark figure based on the size of the space; the final cost was only higher because we increased the size and there were no hidden surprises. The first design we received was exactly what we wanted (they ‘got it’) and the only tweak we made was around the size of a side window. Mark agreed to take on some additional work inside the house, opening up a supporting wall between our kitchen and old dining room. I had struggled to get anyone to take this on, so was greatful to him for doing it. This proved to be quite a challenge for the team based on how the original wall was constructed and took a few more days that expected, however they worked constantly in horrible conditions until it was done.
