Kingsholme is an independent company designing and building timber orangeries, conservatories and traditional roof lanterns. From our workshop in Studham, Bedfordshire, we work throughout Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Northamptonshire, Cambridgeshire and the surrounding areas.
Established in 1997, we combine carefully considered architectural design and detailed 3D visualisation with in-house manufacture and experienced construction teams. Every structure is made for the property, with its proportions, materials and architectural details developed to complement the existing house.
We can manage the complete project from design and approvals through construction, installation and finishing. We can also manufacture and install the timber structure for a project managed by your architect or builder, or supply a traditional roof lantern for a new extension.
Every project is designed around the architecture of the house and the
way the new room will be used. Detailed 3D visualisations help you
review its appearance and proportions before construction begins.

details are manufactured at our workshop in Studham, giving us close
control over quality and finish.
One experienced team can manage the project from design and approvals
through foundations, construction, installation and the final finishing

Timber is at the heart of most Kingsholme projects. It gives us the strength and flexibility to create carefully proportioned windows, doors, roof lanterns, fascias and architectural details that complement both period and contemporary homes.
Each orangery is designed for its setting and intended use, then manufactured at our Studham workshop using durable hardwood and Accoya. We can manage the complete building project or work alongside your architect or builder to manufacture and install the timber structure.
A timber roof lantern brings natural light into the centre of an extension while providing a carefully proportioned architectural feature. Each Kingsholme lantern is designed for its individual opening, with the roof pitch, glazing layout and rafter details considered as part of the room below.
Our roof lanterns are manufactured and finished at our Bedfordshire workshop. They can form part of a complete Kingsholme orangery or be supplied and installed for a new extension constructed by your architect or builder.
Alongside our timber work, Kingsholme designs a smaller number of aluminium orangeries for homes where a clean, contemporary appearance is preferred. Slim, thermally broken frames can accommodate large areas of glazing, sliding doors or bifold doors, creating open views and a strong connection with the garden.
The glazing, structural elements, insulated columns and roof details are considered together to produce a balanced architectural design. Aluminium components are finished with a durable powder coating and are available in a wide range of colours to complement the property.

The fantastic reviews I see here reflect the experience we have had with Kingsholme. It has been faultless from the first contact through to completion of our orangery. The technical information on the website gave me confidence that the product is outstanding, based on years of experience. All of the team were outstanding, highly experienced tradesmen. The final product is of the highest quality in terms of design, materials and construction. There was absolutely no ‘sales’ involved and during my first call, I was given a ballpark figure based on the size of the space; the final cost was only higher because we increased the size and there were no hidden surprises. The first design we received was exactly what we wanted (they ‘got it’) and the only tweak we made was around the size of a side window. Mark agreed to take on some additional work inside the house, opening up a supporting wall between our kitchen and old dining room. I had struggled to get anyone to take this on, so was grateful to him for doing it. This proved to be quite a challenge for the team based on how the original wall was constructed and took a few more days than expected, however they worked constantly in horrible conditions until it was done. We didn’t have a lot of time to get involved in the project and that wasn’t an issue in the end as everything was taken care for us. It’s rare to say this of a company – we have not had a single issue with Kingsholme. Thank you to everyone involved.
